De Savitsch Collection. Dr Eugene de Savitsch was a physician and surgeon, who lived in Washington D.C. He obtained his collection of early Russian art between 1930 and 1950.
The Crucifixion on the central panel is surrounded by praying saints. On the left wing are depicted: Deesis with Christ as High Priest, Christ the ‘Non Sleeping Eye’ and the Pecherskaya Mother of God. On the right wing: Christ the Saviour of Smolensk, the Good Deeds of the Guardian Angel and the Archangel Michael with the Miracle of Chonae.
